In this, my first guidebook, you will find condensed, tried and tested experiences and tips on how to turn even the smallest balcony into a paradise for animals and yourself and where you can also harvest.

With the right choice of plants, you can welcome the wild bees, honey bees, ladybugs, many, many other insects and the whole variety of birds on the 6th floor — as I do in the middle of Berlin — even on the 8th or even 10th floor. I even have squirrels, in 2019 and 2020 young squirrels have grown up here. They are more or less self-sufficient. But having these experiences, these experiences of nature, that is what is so exciting, grounding and close to nature, which is so extremely valuable. In the middle of Berlin, with a view of the Berlin TV tower, Potsdamer Platz and the Memorial Church, I also harvest a lot, and recently the windowsills have also been fitted with balcony boxes with water reservoirs. It’s easy to do and brings so much joy, happiness and harvest: My biotope on the balcony — experience nature and harvest happiness in the middle of the city. In this book, I share my many years of experience and provide detailed instructions and practical tips.
