Journalist and wild plant expert Simone Böcker speaks about rewilding at the Online Organic Balcony Congress

Simone Böcker

Rewild the world — rewild yourself. For an uncultivated view of the world

Simone Böcker is a journalist and expert on food and nature issues. She spent 10 years reporting from Bulgaria and other Balkan countries, mainly for public broadcasters. This was followed by a Master’s degree at the „Slow Food“ University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo (Italy), where she discovered wild herbs. The subject of ethnobotany — the science of the relationship between humans and plants — inspired her, as did the realization that so much of nature is edible. She founded her wild plant business UNKULTIVIERT in 2017 and organizes workshops and wild herb walks in Berlin and the surrounding area, collects and experiments with wild herbs in the kitchen and is always on the lookout for new taste experiences. Her book „Rewilding: In search of a balance between man and nature“ was published in 2023.

Contents:

Daring more wilderness — for a completely new relationship with nature. Simone makes us want to put on our rewilding glasses and see nature more as a subject. This should not be seen as a sacrifice or a loss. We can experience a lot of happiness through this relationship, not in a competitive mindset, but in togetherness and reciprocity.
