Robust Bioland quality:

Deike Haßler from Küstenbalkon talks about windowsill gardening at the Online Organic Balcony Congress

Deike Hassler

Jungle with over 100 different vegetable plants on the balcony and windowsill

Teacher Deike Haßler from Kiel is outgrowing her plants — at least in the literal sense: what began in 2020 with a few donated tomato seeds in her city apartment has now become a jungle with over 100 different vegetable plants in the smallest of spaces. From zero to harvest, so to speak. That’s why she is convinced that anyone can do it: In the end, all you need is a windowsill and the fun of trying things out.

Contents:

Deike Haßler documents almost every step of her “coastal balcony” on Instagram. She has grown more than 100 different types of plants there in just a few meters — including lettuce, strawberries, garlic, beet, eggplants and mini melons. She tells us all about it with photos and lots of enthusiasm.

Book: Congratulations to Deike, whose book “Fensterbrettgarten” from Löwenzahn Verlag was awarded 3rd place “Best Guide” at the German Garden Book Prize on 08.03.24.
