Claudia Dettmer

Insect-friendly gardening in the big city on 2.7 m²

With a new apartment last winter came a new balcony. Claudia Dettmer from Hamburg has managed to create a blooming variety throughout the year on her 3 square meters of space. Numerous early bloomers adorn her balcony as early as February and with a considerable amount of additional plants grown in advance, there is a wide range of nectar available all year round. In addition to the nesting aid and bird house, the home-made insect drinking troughs are a particularly useful and beautiful sight. Claudia documented the development for the „Deutschland summt“ 2024 planting competition and was awarded 3rd place in the „Balconies, terraces, roof gardens, vertical gardens“ category. view here.
