Sin­ce 1997, Chris­tia­ne Den­zel, a trai­ned gar­de­ner and land­scape gar­de­ner, has been the owner of the Bio­land nur­sery and natu­ral food Brei­te Wies‘, 20 km abo­ve Lake Con­s­tance in Emmin­gen-Lip­tin­gen. Through her vege­ta­ble nur­sery, the topic of „pol­li­na­ting insects“ is clo­se to her heart and she has been offe­ring lec­tures and work­shops on this sub­ject for many years, as well as pro­vi­ding advice on bio­di­ver­si­ty. As a trai­ned natur­opath, her­ba­list and farm edu­ca­tor, she inspi­res adults as well as child­ren and young peo­p­le and also imparts know­ledge vivid­ly through num­e­rous books. She is also the 1st chair­wo­man of the „Bau­ern­gar­ten und Wild­kräu­ter­land Baden“ asso­cia­ti­on. She spends two days a week in schools tea­ching about bio­di­ver­si­ty. She draws on over 20 years of expe­ri­ence with school clas­ses and kin­der­gar­ten groups as well as sea­so­nal cour­ses in her nur­sery, mea­dows and forests. In 2024, she began trai­ning bio­di­ver­si­ty edu­ca­tors at two „sta­te uni­ver­si­ties“ in Baden-Würt­tem­berg. Lec­tu­re con­tent:

Chris­tia­ne stellt dies­mal ver­schie­de­ne Gehöl­ze vor, die bei uns auch wild vor­kom­men. Die Ver­wen­dung für uns Men­schen ist dabei eben­so The­ma, wie die Bedeu­tung der Pflan­zen in den Natur­zu­sam­men­hän­gen. Wel­che Schmet­ter­lings­rau­pe braucht wel­ches Laub, wie­vie­le Vögel freu­en sich über wel­che Bee­ren beson­ders u. s. w.?
Unter­schied­li­che Rosen­ge­wäch­se wer­den z. B. ganz genau betrach­tet – vie­le davon sind sehr wert­voll für unse­re Ernäh­rung. Außer­dem zeigt sie anhand aus­sa­ge­kräf­ti­ger Bil­der, war­um man im Herbst mög­lichst viel Unord­nung zulas­sen soll­te.
