Christiane Denzel
Topsoil — so much more than dirt! About soil life and life from the soil
Since 1997, Christiane Denzel, a trained gardener and landscape gardener, has been the owner of the Bioland nursery and natural food Breite Wies‘, 20 km above Lake Constance in Emmingen-Liptingen. Through her vegetable nursery, the topic of „pollinating insects“ is close to her heart and she has been offering lectures and workshops on this subject for many years, as well as providing advice on biodiversity. As a trained naturopath, herbalist and farm educator, she inspires adults as well as children and young people and also imparts knowledge vividly through numerous books. She is also the 1st chairwoman of the „Bauerngarten und Wildkräuterland Baden“ association. She spends two days a week in schools giving lessons on biodiversity. She draws on over 20 years of experience with school classes and kindergarten groups as well as seasonal courses in her nursery, meadows and forests. In 2024, she began training biodiversity educators at two „state universities“ in Baden-Württemberg, with the next course starting on 09.04.25 (see Flyer annual course and Flyer biodiversity education seminar).
Lecture content:
Christiane talks about soil types, indicator plants, green manure, crop rotation and organic plant protection. She introduces topsoil with its many different little helpers and repeatedly intersperses variations for educational purposes.
