Robert Franz stu­di­ed poli­ti­cal sci­ence and is a trai­ned mas­ter gar­de­ner. He works for the Ger­man Rese­arch Cen­ter for Arti­fi­ci­al Intel­li­gence and is also a self-employ­ed agro­no­mist. In the pro­ject Open Orga­nic Farm Among other things, he is working with Natu­re Robots on an AI cul­ti­va­ti­on plan­ner and a know­ledge data­ba­se to help new­co­mers set up their own farms.

The Mar­ket Gar­den expert is an elec­ted coun­cil mem­ber of the Soli­da­ri­ty Agri­cul­tu­re Net­work and a mem­ber of the Know­ledge Working Group and the Advi­so­ry Board. For the Lower Sax­o­ny Cham­ber of Agri­cul­tu­re he takes final exami­na­ti­ons for gar­den­ers. 

His work focu­ses on the deve­lo­p­ment of com­pa­nies. The focus is on self-rege­ne­ra­ting sys­tems with a rese­arch focus and the vital ques­ti­on of what is self-rege­ne­ra­ting.
