Dr. Michael Altmoos
Balconies & gardens at night — light pollution
Dr. Michael Altmoos is a biologist and conservationist with a focus on ecology. Together with his wife, he has been running a hands-on museum for nature conservation with a large butterfly and moss garden in Staudernheim/Rhineland-Palatinate as a family business since 2012. The ‚Nahe der Natur — Mitmach-Museum für Naturschutz‘ has been recognized as a UN Decade Project on Biodiversity. Its radio station Natur Verbunden is interesting. Its free web radio ‚Naturadio‘ from the museum broadcasts around the clock and can be received worldwide via the Internet: A wide variety of music and songs on nature topics, plus clever protest and peace songs. Listening, enjoying, discovering, inspiring — very close to nature. He has written great books, always published by Pala-Verlag, whose topics we talked about at the congress: „Especially: Butterflies: Creative butterfly protection for landscape and garden“, „My moss garden“ and „Dare more wilderness! Recognize, experience and promote natural dynamics“. A book on mini-wilderness will soon be published by Ulmer Verlag.
