The ani\u00admals don\u2019t need such a house to spend the night in, but to lay their eggs. The brood grows in the insect nes\u00adt\u00ading aid and hat\u00adches the fol\u00adlo\u00adwing spring. Wit\u00adhout nes\u00adt\u00ading oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adties and a lack of food, the\u00adre will be no more wild bees the fol\u00adlo\u00adwing year, as the ani\u00admals die once they have laid their eggs. The stems should not pro\u00adtru\u00adde over the edge of the can so that they are pro\u00adtec\u00adted from mois\u00adtu\u00adre. They and the can should be at least 10 cm long, the lon\u00adger the bet\u00adter. The bam\u00adboo and reed stalks should also be com\u00adple\u00adte\u00adly open. They work\u00aded careful\u00adly so as not to inju\u00adre them\u00adsel\u00adves on the sharp edges of the can. They pres\u00adsed the stems into the moist tile adhe\u00adsi\u00adve so that they were firm\u00adly in place. The stems should not be able to be remo\u00adved, other\u00adwi\u00adse hun\u00adgry birds could easi\u00adly take the stems with the insect brood.
